The night market will see the likes of vocalist Zano, Nelisiwe Sibiya of Lockdown fame, Sobantwana, Aus Tebza, Vuyo Tyolo as well as the Standard Bank National Youth Band. These youngsters with impeccable musical talent will be joined by Dutch band – The New York Round Midnight Band, also billed to perform at the main festival.
A weekend of fun, food, good music and style, from Thursday Zano and Vuyo Tyolo open up the market with their incredible sounds. Zano has a large and colorful catalogue, having worked with the likes of Black Coffee, Riky Rick and The Layabouts among others. Joining him is a soulful, exceptional musician, Vuyo Tyolo who is currently based in East London, a former Native Rhythms signee.
The Friday show is the ladies doing what they do best, Bassist and Vocalist Aus Tebza, real name Tebogo Sedumedi will be setting the stage alight with her band. She is known for performing at numerous festivals and venues alongside HHP, Thandi Ntuli, Swazi Dlamini, Wanda Baloyi and Kelly Khumalo. She is also a known musical director for a number of live music award shows.
Performing with this powerhouse is youngster Singer, Songwriter and Actress Nelisiwe Sibiya whose voice is heard on the Mzansi Magic drama series Lockdown. A Music graduate, Nelisiwe is excited to be performing at the Jazzy Night Market alongside names she looks up to. “I love Zano, I saw Vuyo’s live performance and I cried at how powerful and anointed he is a performer. Aus Tebza is one of my inspirations – a woman doing what she loves and exceptionally so. I can’t wait to share the stage with her.”
Native Rhythms star Sobantwana is performing on Saturday alongside Standard Bank The National Youth Band. Sobantwana is known for her crisp and beautiful voice as well as her dress sense.
The market starts from 15:00 to 18:00 at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton with food stalls, exhibitors and all things you can expect from a night market. The Jazzy Night Market is the daily build-up to the main Jazz festival taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre.
